Steps:

  1. saute garlic and 1 tsp salt over high heat for ~30s
  2. add pepper, saute for 10s
  3. add stock and chopped asparagus
  4. bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer, and simmer for 10 minutes until asparagus is tender
  5. Blend thoroughly in the vitamix
  6. pour back into pot through a strainer
  7. return to a simmer, season with additional salt and pepper.
