Steps:

  1. cube the beef into 1/2 inch chunks
  2. salt the beef generously
  3. Heat dutch oven over 8/10 heat
  4. sear the beef, and remove to a pan
  5. reduce heat to 2/10, add onion, stir to deglaze
  6. after a few minutes when onions are starting to clear up add a touch of water to deglaze the rest
  7. add rest of water, carrots and re-add the beef.
  8. cook for ~an hour until the beef is nearly fork tender
  9. (this is when to start the rice) add the potato and cook for ~20 more minutes until the potatoes are tender
  10. add the cabbage and the curry mix and reduce until desired thickness
