Steps:

  1. Wash rice thoroughly until water runs clear and then drain all the water
  2. Pound ginger and garlic using a mortar and a pestle. You should have about 1 tbsp of ginger garlic paste.
  3. Open the cardamom pod a bit by gently crushing them using the flat side of your knife.
  4. Saute cardamom, cloves, pepper corns, and bay leaf
  5. Add ginger garlic paste and onion, and stir until lighly browned
  6. Add rice and tumeric poweder, and stir to combine
  7. Add liquid
  8. Cook in rice setting
